“You are only as young as your spine is flexible” – Joseph Pilates
Pilates is a time-tested exercise program invented by Joseph Pilates. The Pilates Method has been helping people get healthier and stronger for more than 100 years. It’s an accessible and effective exercise plan that strengthens, stretches and balances the whole body.
Pilates focuses on the core muscles or “Powerhouse.” Those are the muscles found in the abdomen, back, glutes and hips. These muscle groups are important because they support the pelvis and spinal column-the central structure for your entire body. A flexible spine increases freedom of movement and provides space for the internal organs to function properly. This is accomplished by using over 600 exercises uniquely targeted to meet each individual’s needs. Some of the health benefits from consistently practicing the Pilates Method are better posture and alignment, improved coordination, stress relief and improved flexibility and joint mobility.
Anyone, no matter what their fitness level, can benefit from Pilates. If you are new to exercising, slowed down by arthritis or nagging injuries or are extremely athletic you will feel right at home in our studio. The workout is tailored to YOU.
